Ask any Norwegian about their first knife, and they'll likely say, "speiderkniv med raud tupp" â the scout knife with the red butt.
Helle's connection to these knives dates back to 1947, when they produced the first scout knife with a red butt. The current designs featuring girl and boy scouts in traditional outfits have been around since 1971.
The knife was created with two main goals. First, it is designed as a proper tool for children, meaning it is sharp and has a functional handle suited for smaller hands. Second, it is built with safety in mind. The two-way guard prevents hands from slipping onto the blade, and the snap-button sheath ensures the knife stays securely stowed after use.
